The Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PMR) at Government Thiruvarur Medical College & Hospital focuses on restoring function, mobility and independence in people affected by injury, illness or disability, helping them achieve the best possible quality of life.

Rehabilitation is planned around each patient's functional needs and delivered as a team effort, in coordination with Orthopaedics, Neurology, Neurosurgery, General Medicine and the physiotherapy services.

Patient Care

The department provides outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation care, functional assessment and individualised rehabilitation programmes, along with consultation services for patients referred from other departments of the hospital.

Academic Role

The department contributes to the training of medical and allied health students in functional assessment, rehabilitation planning and disability-inclusive patient care.
